Biography

Yide Zhang was born in Huanggang, Hubei, China, and received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Automation from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China, in 2014. He came to the University of Notre Dame in 2014 to pursue a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering. In 2017, he received a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. Currently, he is a Ph.D. candidate working with Dr. Scott Howard in the Biophotonics Research Group. His research is interdisciplinary and focused on developing new types of fluorescence microscopes that could advance the work of other researchers and medical personnel in a wide variety of fields. His research interests include multiphoton microscopy, fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy, super-resolution microscopy, high-speed imaging, deep tissue imaging, adaptive optics, computational imaging, and deep learning. He received the Graduate Student Research Award for 2016 from the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Notre Dame. He was also the recipient of the 2017 Berry Family Foundation Graduate Fellowship from the Advanced Diagnostics and Therapeutics Initiative (AD&T) of the University of Notre Dame. In 2019, he was awarded the JenLab Young Investigator Award at the SPIE Photonics West conference. He will join Dr. Lihong V. Wang’s group at California Institute of Technology as a postdoctoral researcher in September 2019.
